Alexander McQueen

From a new brand identity to a complete packaging system. IDP Direct developed custom textures, sampled colors, tested finishing processes, and engineered the details before moving the approved designs into production.

Project Overview

Alexander McQueen's redesign required more than applying a new logo to existing packaging. IDP worked alongside the brand through development, creating custom textures, sampling colors, testing foil processes, and refining structures and finishes until the new packaging language was ready for production.

A New Identity, Engineered for Production

From retail bags and gift boxes to garment bags, tissue, labels and influencer packaging, the approved identity could then be carried consistently across the wider program.

From Redesign to Production

Custom textures, colors and finishing processes were developed and sampled with McQueen as the new identity took shape giving the creative team physical options to evaluate before committing the program to production.

Foil + Emboss. One Pass.

The white foil and heavily raised emboss are applied in a single production pass, eliminating the registration tolerance created when the processes are run separately. In-house tooling gives us greater control over emboss depth, detail and repeatability.

Every Layer Considered

Custom tissue and an embossed paper seal turn the protective layer around the garment into part of the unboxing. The experience is designed to reveal itself gradually, from outer packaging to tissue to product.

Influencer Packaging

For the launch of a new McQueen handbag, IDP developed a custom influencer box engineered to reveal the product step by step on camera. Structure, presentation and opening sequence were designed around how the packaging would be experienced, and shared online.

One Partner. Every Format.

McQueen's garment bags are cut, sewn and printed by IDP alongside the wider packaging program. Bringing paper packaging, textile packaging and accessories under one partner helps maintain color, branding and quality standards while simplifying sourcing and production management.
