Giorgio Armani
One group. Different brands. Different packaging needs. From reusable fabric totes and garment bags to paper shopping bags, rigid boxes and e-commerce packaging, IDP supports packaging across the Armani group with materials and structures engineered for how each brand is used.
Project Overview
Our work with Armani spans multiple labels, product categories and customer experiences. Each has its own visual language and functional requirements, from the sophistication of Giorgio Armani and the energy of Emporio Armani to Armani Exchange and Armani/Casa. IDP develops and manufactures paper shopping bags, reusable fabric totes, garment bags, rigid boxes, e-commerce packaging, tissue and other packaging components across the group, adapting materials, structures and production processes to each application.
Reuse Only Works When People Reuse It
A global packaging program shouldn't force every brand or product into the same solution. A garment bag has different requirements from an e-commerce shipper. A shoe box leaving a store presents a different problem from a seasonal tote. Our role is to engineer each format around what it actually needs to do while maintaining the production standards expected across the wider program.

Box Becomes the Bag
For Armani Exchange footwear, an integrated paper carry handle allows the shoe box to leave the store without an additional shopping bag. One component does the job of two. The mono-material bag/box reduces packaging needs and increases recyclability.
One Material Less
IDP's knitted paper handles provide the tactile character of a woven handle while keeping paper shopping bags within a paper-based material system. Developed and produced in-house, they're engineered as part of the bag rather than treated as an accessory added at the end. IDP can custom knit handles in any style and color.

Packaging Worth Using Again
For Armani, durable fabric totes turn retail packaging into something designed to continue beyond the original purchase, with construction and graphics intended for repeated use. These fabric bags adhere to strict “reuse” requirements of handle strength, washability, and durability.
In-Store Unboxing, Online
Armani Exchange e-commerce packaging carries the brand experience into a very different environment. Structure, protection and presentation have to work together because the package, not the store, becomes the customer's first physical interaction with the order.

WHAT FACTORY-DIRECT MEANS TO ARMANI
Across brands, markets and product categories, IDP can change the material, structure and manufacturing process while maintaining one accountable supply chain.
